Hi, we're so glad you're
visiting.
Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.
The CFP Forum is officially "inactive"
-- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it. All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.
But I do like to sketch, paint, and work with pastels for fun. And my favorite projects are the ones I've done of beloved pets. Not so much because of how they've turned out, but because of the joy I had while working on them, especially when I've given them as gifts
I bet there's a lot of neat ideas for projects involving pets out there!!!

Do you sketch and paint too? I would love to meet other people who do. I do like oil paints, but only for abstract stuff...I've never done an animal.
Each project I do varries in the amount of time it takes me. I like the immediate results of sketching with pencil...and then adding color with pastels. I use both oil and chalk for that.
I'll see if I can post a pastel I did for my brother, of his dog.

I sketched this one out on medium weight watercolor paper using a photo as a guide...although the drawing is a lot larger. And then used chalk pastels for the background color, and pastel pencils for the places where I wanted some color in the detail.
I think the dimensons are 15" X 11".

That is Good, If you created that, you are an artist. My son is really good at sketching and drawing, when he was in high school, but now that hes working , he doesn't have the time. I bet you could take orders, I would love to have a sketch of both my doggies!

Andi I don't think in your case it matters whether you have had formal training or not, you have a talent, I couldn't draw anything that would look that good.Keep drawing we want to see more!

Ah, then it would be nice to have a section just for such things
In all seriousness though, I do appreciate the compliments and encouragement. So, thank you very much!!! I would love to share more of my stuff, and see if there are other people who also capture their pets or animals in their arts and crafts. I just know there has to be.
I actually have an idea for a painting I want to do that would include a dog similar to your darker colored one...I feel so bad for forgetting her name What breed is she?

Andi you stay up late! Midnight is a Lhasa Apso, I have tons of pics of her, she is a little camera ham.she only weighs 13 lbs, all that hair makes her look bigger, she is 6 years old. I got her when she was 6 months or I would have named her Shadow, because no matter where I am, she is right beside me. If you want to sketch or paint her, I will gladly send a pic!!! LOL

LOL...I have been staying up late. Plus I'm on the Left Coast. So whatever time it shows that I posted...it's actually 3 hours earlier for me
The idea I have for paintings with the different breeds of dogs, would be a series of girls walking their dogs. These would be different from the one I did of Axle, as they would be sort of retro-cartoonish and colorful.
However...I would love to do an actual sketch for you, just as practice for myself though. Go ahead and PT me, if you're interested.
