Hi, we're so glad you're
visiting.
Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.
The CFP Forum is officially "inactive"
-- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it. All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.
Well, they said that with in 24-48 hrs after the last dose of antibiotics(amoxicillin) that if Greta's stools were still normal, that she'd be in the clear! By then all the antibiotic would be out of her system! Well, the last antibiotic was given @ 5pm on the 6th! we are more than double that now! So the food allergy testing and 3 weeks of antibiotics did pay off! We could have saved the $100.+ by not testing, but the "elimination method" takes months & months of guessing & that gets expensive too(food switching) The USUAL Allergy foods are Beef, Wheat & Dairy! She had none of them(we did remove the Yogurt as a precaution) The company that our vet uses, gives a breakdown of the allergy food classes, a list of foods that may be chosen and their manufacturers contact info. You have to be so careful, "Animal fat" is so general it could be anything, "starch" could be anything. Greta ia allergic to corn-some of these "starches" are CORN STARCH! etc, Treats, chews also must be watched! Manufacturers also change Ingredients with out notification so it must really be watched! But, without all the tummy aches, diarrhea & occassional "upchucking" she's a HAPPY Girl & so are we. Oh she may have IBS/IBD but it must be a mild case as she is doing well on just the food restrictions.BTW- Vitamins & coat conditioners(other than the food) also have Brewer's Yeast etc which she is allergic to also! There were 7 things on her allergy list. JUST LIKE A CHILD who has allergies!
She has 7 different (FOOD)allergies(CORN, RABBIT,FLAX,OATS,BREWER'S YEAST ,CARROTS AND PORK) tHE NEW fRONTIER that you mentioned isn't on my list. But if you could get me info on it(if it has a dry formula with none of the aforementioned ingredients I'd sure appreciate it! SO FAR EUKANUBA vet Diet Response F/P(fish & potatoe) is what she's on & what's close to being around here! in Snow Flake! I can't believe it it's 3 months ago today, that we GOT GRETA! ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU'ALL CALL "a Gotcha Day! (actually we DID "get HER DELIVERED!"

Its called New Frontiers Natural Marketplace in Flagstaff 1000 S Milton. Ph (928)774-5754. Its right next to the Varcity Gas station On Miltion(the main drag akd rt 66). They are a little pricy on some things but they are better for you. I don't know if I have time to go there or not. I have to leave in 15 mins to take Mya to her pet class at PetSmart.
You should have seen Mya when she noticed the squirrel and the squirrel came up to her. She started barking then got scared and started yip crying and ran inside. Never seen anything so funny!!!
Yep, she is doing well now. After all that was wrong, SHE IS NOW JUST AS SPOILED ROTTEN AS HANNAH TOO! BUT, she is only allowed her special diet and nothing more in the food dept!
I'll have to check them out. There's 7 things that she is allergic to. I am finding out that it is rough to get the Eukanuba Response F/P when I need it! Not impossible but a real pain, cus the vet is 100 miles round trip & only orders it 2 times a month & you never know when they will get their order! The largest that they make is a 30# bag, and for weimi's that goes quickly. It's $50.00 a bag but it works so the cost is mot the main concern! But I'm always looking for a better way to do this that works thanks for the info!
You mean to get the Eukanuba(Snowflake) well, I ordered 2 bags this time & will always keep one bag rotated to keep a new bag as a spare. If I do that then I can go around there when we go to ShowLow!
