Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

#1)Attached is a photo of Riley. I think the last e-mail I sent had too many photos and was too large to send. I appreciate your help in getting the word out to the Weimaraner community. Riley will be six years old on June 4th. He has owned us since he was 8 weeks old, and is a purebred Weim with AKC papers. Riley is great with children (we have three girls ages 4 and under). Unfortunately, our newborn is having difficulties with allergies and asthma, and sharing a home with a dog is not highly recommended by our pediatrician right now. Also, with two full time jobs and three young children, Riley is not winning the battle for attention either. He’s doing fine in his daily routine here, but I think he would be much happier in a home that can engage him more in the family’s daily activities. We’re in no real hurry to place him and will keep him as long as it takes to find the right match.

Riley is obedience trained, crate trained and house broken as well. He loves to go for walks, but needs a little more training with a lead than I’ve been able to offer lately. He’s great in the car as well; as long as you don’t mind him resting his head on your shoulder in transit (otherwise he rides in his crate just fine). He’s coming due for shots, which we will be taking care of in the next week or two. He is excellent with children and, while he has been our only dog since day one, he LOVES to be with other dogs and would thrive with a friend or two. He has never had much exposure to cats, so I’m not so sure how that would work out. Riley is neutered and has no health problems other than a minor ear infection from time to time. He’s not much of a chewer or a digger, but loves to help you pull trash out of the bathroom trash can (he doesn’t do it in the kitchen because it is too easy to get caught). He also enjoys washing dishes, whether you ask for his assistance or not. His favorite activity, though, is resting his weary head on your lap while watching TV. He’s well known as one of the world’s largest lap dogs, so if you want a dog that stays off the couch and lies on the floor away from you while you’re vegging on the couch, Riley probably isn’t the dog for you. Other than that, he’s just awesome and grows on you like a weed. Anyone that’s interested can contact me using the info below. We are not charging a fee for him, but I would require a brief home visit to see how Riley interacts with his new surroundings. We’re more interested in a good home for him than anything else. He comes with a nice, large travel crate and a food bin too! Take care, and thanks for your help.

#2)Buddy;Buddy is being fostered by (gus), and was just neutered this past Friday. He's up to date on shots, microchipped and about 2 years old. Buddy was from a divorced home, and it would appear that the woman's father (who she moved home to), was being abusive to Buddy, so he's rather shy and afraid of loud voices and fast movements. Gus has had him for a while and he's doing very well, plays well with his other weim and loves to cuddle and have attention. I'm sure all this boy needs is some love and attention.

Who could resist that face?!?!?! Buddy doing what he loves best, cuddling with you on the bed! (JUST A FOOT NOTE this dog looks like Hannah)

#3)SCOUT, AGE:3 YRS, Neutered Male, Gray color, Housetrained- Yes, Good with Kids, YES, Good with cats and dogs-YES! Scout came to us as a puppy. He has grown to 80+ pounds and is surprisingly cuddly and gentle. He is definitely a Weim due to his excitable nature. He loves to run in circles. Scout has been both an indoor and more recently an outdoor dog. When indoors, he likes to take long naps. If awake, he would like to follow his people everywhere they go. Scout has a very powerful bark and is an excellent audible deterrent to potential burglars. Problem is, he would lick them to death if they actually came into the yard! Scout has been very good with our 2 year old son. He learned quickly that the baby was to be given the respect that his adults were given. He has never snapped at our son, although there have been some collisions when both were running through the family room. Scout was alone for 2 years until we got Boo. Scout really enjoys having another larger dog to play with. He may be overwhelming to a smaller or less aggressive breed. Scout and Boo never fight, but they play hard. Scout has shown tendencies in the past to dig or chew if he is lonely, so we have built a “run” on the side of our home for him to be active. Scout has attended a beginners training class and will “sit” by command. He will also respond when commanded to “lay down”. Scout handles kenneling well and would sleep in them nightly if necessary. Scout generally sleeps on a blanket on the floor at the foot of our bed and is very happy with this arrangement. We got Scout from a breeder and have all of his lineage paperwork. Scout is amazingly bright, don’t try to fool him or get too comfortable. Just like a young child, he will outsmart you when you least expect it. He has had no medical problems to speak of, an excellent pet for the right family.

#4) BOO !-age: 4 yrs old, Male-neutered,Gray color, House-trained(YES), OKAY w-Kids, Good with other dogs(YES), CATS-UNKNOWN. *Boo joined our family about 1 year ago. Boo is 50+ pounds and a much smaller build than Scout. He was “debarked” prior to our ownership so he is very quiet. We got him from a private owner who claimed he had been a “show dog”. We are no experts, but we do not see what we would expect to from a show dog. Otherwise, Boo is a very loving dog. He always wants to be touching his people and also likes to give “kisses” when you least expect it. Boo is somewhat skittish at times and has snapped on 1 occasion at our son. He did not bite, but he acted slightly more aggressive than we would like. Boo has been mostly an outdoor dog since he came to us. Boo loves to sleep and lounge in a kennel. Boo has bonded well with Scout, they play together very hard and seem to enjoy the companionship. Boo has no medical issues to speak of. He does have a visible lump on his back, the vet has examined it and claimed it is not to be worried about unless it gets larger, this has not happened. Boo has also shown some tendencies to dig and possibly chew, however we have never caught him in the act. When inside, Boo will be underfoot for a while and then curl up for a nap. Unfortunately, we never received the genealogical paperwork we were promised from the former owner. We have not taken Boo to any training classes over the last year, but he has learned to “sit” within just several days of non-intensive work. He is a very smart dog, sometimes too smart.

Scout and Boo would do well if placed together, however, this is not a requirement. Both will be in need of yearly vaccinations. We will be able to keep Scout and Boo for a reasonable time while a search is conducted, however, with our new baby arriving any day now, we will have less time to provide them with the extra attention they deserve.

These dogs are available now, this rescue doesn't charge the BIG adotion fees like the other Rescues do, they're more interested in finding a suitable forever home.

I can't believe you have so many. They are so beautiful and gentle dogs. I can't imagine people would just give them up. I see Colby's face when I leave the house and that just breaks my heart, I couldn't imagine it being forever!

Stacey, I sent Barbi a list of the dogs(can't remember if I sent her the list of dogs I got today but there's one called Macy, that I want so bad, I hardly dare to hope for her. The Lord knows though, haven't got an answer back on her though & there's another that just had that eye surgery(turned in eyelashes) the owners gave her up cuz they didn't want(or couldn't afford to) get the surgery done. she's 18 mo old, got to finish all the paper work on it though... I can't imagine it either! But, lots of folks aren't ready for a weimi. they aren't a normal dog that's content to be ignored & they can get VERY distructive if you don't give them time. they are like a 3 yr old child for their whole life. Not everyone is up to that commitment. My other dog Heeler, you could leave home for 8 -10 hrs & they never even hardly moved! If I did that with Hannah- I would not have a stick of furniture or walls, or doors or anything else. I know alot of people are on the go all the time. They should not have a weimi, unless the weimi is with them, while on the go!

Crying I can't believe people give up these beautiful dogs, I wished I had a larger home too, I don't like to keep my dogs outside, I wish I could adopt one, I think they are a wonderful breed , I see one everytime I go in Petsmart.
Rosemary, I'm sure you know Schnauzers are like that too, they need a lot of attention, they get bored easily and destruction sets in, !! Other than that they are wonderful ! Of course you know little Curtis just doesn't get enough attention at all lol

This hits a special spot with me because my dream is to have a Weim -- they are so beautiful. BUT, being a responsible pet owner is realizing when you have as many pets as you can presently handle to give a good quality life.

Rosemary, I meant to add these photos and descriptions to the Adoptables Pet Section, but I haven't had time. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it tomorrow (I'm working today).

Yvonne, I've owned a lot of breeds, people used to come to me with their dogs, mostly purebreds! They gave me their dogs, just handed them over, just like that! I then would, train, groom or do what ever I could so that the dog "was better" than when I got them. then I would find them a "forever home". Bassetts, Boxers, Cocker Spaniels,Brittany Spaniels, German Shepherds, Pugs, Labs,Collies, Heelers,Dalmations, Poodles,Doxies, Blood Hounds, Beagles, Rhod. Ridgebacks,Rotties & Snauzies. etc. But, of all these breeds, I have never had one like these Weimers! The norm for the breed is VELCRO/shadow! I don't know if it was meant to be this intense. From what I read about the Weimi beginning, they wanted a "personal Hunting dog", not the usual"tie 'em out & forget 'em" type of dog. but a "sit at my feet, by the fire" type. A large percentage of these dogs have various degrees of "separation anxiety" syndrome, that they never "grow out of! I'm not talking about a hole in the wall, we'r talking a WEAPON of MASS DESTRUCTION! I'm home most of the time, when & where I go the dog(s) goes. I am currently waiting on 2 responses from the list of 14, that's not yet posted and 2 others from Utah on yet another list. My hubby got Sun & Mon off so we could travel to see one if we can. He was suppose to work on his days off this week, but some how got them off! As I call these rescues & foster homes, I am getting more disturbed about the Back Yard(mini Puppy mills) a bunch of these health problems ARE THE BREEDER'S FAULTS! CUZ THESE FOLKS ARE S T U P I D AND IGNORANT,GREEDY JERKS, that need to suffer as much as these poor furbabies do!(bet we'd see a reduction in breeding) Mad I think that their BEAUTY is somewhat their own worst enemy.

You are exactly right Maggie, about popularity driving a Breed Market wild and ruining a breed! Maid in Manhatten, Had a Weimi, I do believe. And Wegman(the guy who Photoed Beautiful weimis in Human outfits contributed to the Weimi Craze. Shepherds had Rin Tin Tin, Collies had Lassie, The 101 Dalmations Etc!!! When I saw the thread about what kind of dog I'd like to be, I thought"A breed that NEVER GOT POPULAR!" But, about these dogs that I post, they are all in rescue Foster Homes. They won't be put down & They won't go to just anyone, You have to file an Application(s), interview & Home inspection! Unlike other adoptions/purchases, You gotta go through the process & prove yourself. Trust me on this i have atleast 10 3-5 pg applications on my hard drive right now that I've sent in!(complete with my vets name(etc info) and references! Yoou also have to agree that they will get the dog back if you aren't able to keep it any longer! There were these 4 males(Az) plus 14 pages full from the California(area) Plus 3 more females in Utah that I knew about! But there's also a bunch of dedicated people who rescue & place dogs 24/7!~ and I've found out that folks from all the different breeds help each other! Don't worry Maggie, they will have good homes everyone of them!
