Hi, we're so glad you're
visiting.
Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.
The CFP Forum is officially "inactive"
-- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it. All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.
As of right now (not including the Adopters waiting for their paperwork to clear) There were 26 lives saved this week-end! 23 dogs/pups AND 3 cats. Just think if all the local TV Stations would do that! I'm sure more will clear paperwork yet. There was the normal checks to do before they would release the animals. BUT THERE IS STILL CLOSE TO 1000 PETS IN PHX(Maricopa county POUNDS alone)

One of the Lady News Casters, is a BIG TIME Rescue Person, as a matter-of-fact she's the one who notified me about the lil doxie(Lucy) the other day(who was ADOPTED TOO!)I hope that this is Adopt-a-thon continues and spreads to other stations & communities too. That's what we're praying for.

The Local Fox station had a lil Amer. Eskimo Dog on this Morning that needed adoption, so MAYBE IT IS SPEADING! I'm going to e-mail EVERY LOCAL STATION & ENCOURAGE THEM TO PUT THE ADOPTABLE PETS IN THE SPOTLIGHT! and thank the ones that have done it already. MAYBE WE ALL HAVE TO DO IT?! and tell them how it worked in PHX!

I sent ABC AN E-MAIL THIS AFTERNOON, asking for any info help that they could give regarding the event that they did inconjuction with the Phx are Pounds & humane societies. I'm sure I'll hear from them soon. I want to tell you what I know about it. They had this big van(sorta like a bus)it was set up to take care of the business end of it. They had the volunteers handling the pets & portable puppy pens set up, they had the Tv station do a "video" on how many dogs/cats come in, adopt out, and put to death everyday. they actually showed the needle going in etc(talk about shock! ) and some people need to see it! This TV station took a lot of flack cuz of it, but you know, most people who dump their dogs, must think that they are the only ones that do it so there's plenty of room & dogs don't have to die cuz they are stupid idiots! ANYWAY, THE TV STATION STAFF SHOWED A LOT OF PETS ON THE AIR, PLAYED WITH THEM & KEPT IT UP ALL WEEK END- THE WHOLE THING WAS DONE @ THE TV STATION(In their parking lot) so every chance they got they reminded people to come down & see them. There was a lot of excitement created by the TV STAFF! THERE WERE PROBABLY MORE PETS ADOPTED AFTER THE 3 DAYS OF PROGRAMMING was over, cuz the people had to be checked out. AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO HAVE ALL THE THOUSANDS OF DOGS/CATS IN one parking lot! Stacey, do they have programs up there where INMATES/CONVICTS groom/train dogs, & break/train Horses/mustangs? I bet there are a lot of dogs that could be used as Disability/SERVICE Dogs too!

I don't think we have program like that but we do have services like ~ Guide dogs and St. Johns theraputic dogs. I would love to do it but I don't know how to get started. Thank-you so much Rosemary of all the information.

STACEY, do you mean, you don't have a program using Inmates/convicts working with the animals? If so I can get Sherif Joe's Contact info. He's known all over the world! He's the"Toughest Sheriff in the WORLD"(EXCEPT WHEN IT COMES TO kids & pets!)

Yep, from what I understand, they're starting it all over the US now! The Link that Jamie, just posted a link to was doing the DOG TRAINING too! and the wild horse(mustang) & Burro Round-up Project is using Convict Buckaroos! that's got to be rewarding to think that a "wasted period"-a sentence could be used to help save animals, help train Physical/ therapy Horses & teach a convicted felon to have compassion on a living creature! GREAT USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES that would have gone to waste!
