Hi, we're so glad you're
visiting.
Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.
The CFP Forum is officially "inactive"
-- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it. All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.
I found this story in the Az local ABC-TV site. Evidently Az is following in the footsteps of Wash. State in using Prison Inmates training Pound Dogs to make Service Dogs for the Handicapped! I applaud this Effort to Utilize Men/women incarcerated & "Imprisoned Canines" to help those who are truly in need. What a GREAT SERVICE! I also Applaud Phx ABC-15 for telling the story, which helps our "forgotten BEST FRIENDS" THE IMPRISONED POUND DOGS.On the site it also tells the minimum requirements of service dogs. there are two different links here! If we complain or "FEEL BAD" about dogs/puppies getting destroyed, then maybe there is something that we can do...like making a "suggestion" to the right people or giving them an"idea" about what to do with these poor dogs!http://www.deltasociety.org/ and http://www.secondchanceprisoncanine.org/
I remember that story Rosemary. Aparently the last thing I heard which was a few weeks ago was that they didn't know how much longer the program would last because of the lack of the all mighty $$$$$$. I hope it continues its a good program for both dog and inmate. I like that station too.
Awhile back, They did an adopt-a-thon, from their parking lot, they did it all week end instead of the planned one day event. I wrote them a thank you e-note and did get a response that they will do more if they hear from the viewers. It's all audience-poll driven. WE need to let them know when they do a "thata boy", not just an "AW poop!"
Actually, I hope folks from across the country pick up on this Idea & get these worthwhile Programs going in EVERY State! I'd rather see the Tax Dollars going to help the dogs, instead of killing them. I just know that they can cash in those airline tickets bought by the govt & never used, to fund a worthwhile program like this!
