Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

I have not been able to control his vomiting. He vomits at least once per week, sometimes more. I do not feed him hardly any treats, and all he gets is kibble. I tried switching his food like 2 times and nothing seems to work. I am terrified he has irritable bowel or food allergies or something awful, and if they want to run a ton of tests I don't know how I am going to pay for it. I am terribly worried Frown

thanks guys. His stools are always fine. Except when he got into some cherries on the ground, and when my mom gave him cooked turkey gibblet, lol.

He just occasionally pukes after eating grass. He never throws up his food, just bile from his stomach (ew). Perhaps it's just because he is half shepherd and they are notorious for having bad stomachs? Frown

I had him on rice/lamb kibble, then recently switched to natural choice oatmeal/rice/lamb.

My vet friend on the net told me rice is a common allergy in dogs!

All the Allergy food lists that I've seen, have rice listed as a NON-ALLERGENT On them. & the vets, say to give nothing but rice if dogs are sick. Greta is allergic to corn ,oats, brewers yeast& flax(amongst others)CORN being one of the HIGHEST reactors listed! Corn(by products) is in most of the foods. THE FOOD TEST DONE ON HER HAD 25 DIFFERENT main fOOD ITEMS LISTED.

holy cow! hmmm my vet friend seemed to think the whole dog food with rice thing is a bit of a scam. :/.

I got this dog food that is supposed to be for "sensitive stomachs" I wonder that is a scam!

I had bought a product of Hills(Science Diet) "Sensitive Stomache", but waited til I got the blood test results back to open the bag. Glad I did, it had ingredients in it that Greta is allergic to. Guess it's like in humans, everyone has different allergies! I checked on the acidophilus that I think Cutie Patutie mentioned, it's the same stuff I had read about, over in Dr Foster & Smith's site(only they have it in Liquid form) instead of pills & probably cheaper in the pills. They also have something called "Barley" Grass powder in a nottle for dogs who like to eat grass(helps to satifiy their need for greens, which is not uncommon. Just that you need to see what grasses they are eating(definitly not foxtail grass for example) I heard that people even grow special patches of special grass for their dogs! I've read that most dogs have a natural desire for grass, and that in itself does not automatically mean that the dog is sick. There's a lot of info under the digestive system heading on this linked site & other links there too!http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp

Juneau weighs 53.4 lbs now Big Grin He was 50.5 one year ago! But this new vet thinks he should weigh at least 5 lbs more :O. Took me 2 years to get 6 lbs on that dog aiee!!.

He's worried about the vomiting, gave use some special wet food and we're going to feed juneau every 3 hours or so so his stomach is never empty. Vet thinks when his stomach is empty he's more likely to puke. No more treats of any kind and I will be vigilant to not let him munch any grass. We're keeping a puke calendar now too.

They are running blood tests and will call us within a day or so to tell us the results. I felt very guilty cuz apparently I don't clip enough off of J's claws..I am always scared to hit a vein so I only take a small amount off. Oh well they clipped his nails and didn't charge me for it Smile.

I'm worried Juneau might have something serious wrong with him, but I'm hoping it's not serious and can be controlled with meds/food etc.

He seems so healthy other than the occasional puke..full of energy, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Sigh.

He loves the special food at least.

He looks healthy but the vomiting is reason for concern. Hopefully you'll receive god news from the vet. Lulu likes to eat grass as well -- I thought that was abnormal. I guess not then.

They eat grass to satisfy some urge for greens I think, but in Juneau's case he does it to make himself throw up Frown. And he only throws up when his stomach is empty. Weird!

He hasn't thrown up in almost 5 days....*crosses fingers*
