Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

Maggie and Marvin were having dinner and she didn't respond when called. Laying in her crate, she was totally stiff and her eyes were rolling back. We rushed her to the Animal ER Clinic and the vet-on-call thinks she may be epileptic. Frown He gave her an anti-inflammatory shot because her neck is severely stiff. Poor baby and poor Maggie -- she couldn't stop crying seeing Mia like this.

Tomorrow she'll see her regular Vet and hopefully he can confirm what is wrong with her.

Has anyone had a dog with epilepsy?

Mia is doing much better. Her vet is not convinced she's epileptic. He had Maggie and Marvin check for everything in their backyard because maybe it was a toxic plant that caused her seizure.

Mia got sick right after they moved to a new house so maybe something in their yard caused it. They're keeping an eye on her...so far...so good. She's back to her happy and hyper self.

From what you said then, they don't know yet. I was amazed how many plants are toxic. Privet Hedges(bushes are VERY POISONOUS) there are a lot of varieties of the Privet & they are the most popular bush/hedge in America. I was amazed but it is not listed on the plant tags or in the Plant books. I found out on a Vet's site! Amazing cuz they also are very harmful to Kids too. I will continue to pray for Mia. Let us know of her progress. Give her a lil hug from me too.

Glad she is doing better. Clap I agree rosemary that it could be a plant. But she might want to check with the neighbors and make sure none of their dogs have had any probs. We had a sicko person here 2 yrs ago poisoning dogs because of a problem he had with the city council. Everyone was encouraged to keep their pets inside. He got 3 years in prison for extreme animal curelty and abuse. Crying

Phx has problems all the time with evil people who poison & hurt dogs. Even in a lil town like St. Johns, we've had problems with jerks doing it! I just hope it was a one time thing, that's it's done.

So far so good. She hasn't had any other seizures. We're praying it was a one-time episode.
