Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

I have 2 purebred Siamese. They are the original breed which are very slim, very huge ears and a purrsonality that is so incredible, I'd swear they were fur humans big grin big grin. I love the breed, however, I also have two very cute tabby mixes that are equally as cute and loveable with super dooper purrsonalities. I don't think I'll ever buy another purebred simply because there are so many babies out there that need loving homes. Next time I get kitten fever and simply must have another - I'm heading for the shelter.

Siamese cats are really phat! They usually have very light blue eyes and when they walk they look so elegant.

Mary Gene, do you have some pictures? Would love to see your pets.

Maggie, yes I do have a lot of pictures of them but I have no way of downloading them in order to send them. I don't dare scan them here at work. I already take a chance when I post so frequently here. We are monitored on how much we use the internet and so far I've been ok. Don't want to press my luck. One day I'll get my own puter and a digital camera so I can do what I want.

Mary,

I think there are three types of Siamese:
  • Applehead (the original - my Xena is one)
  • Traditional - more slender
  • Wedgie - Very slender with a trianglar head

Wedgie Siamese started in the 1970's and are what you see in the cat shows. Similar breeds like the Oriental shorthair also have that wedgie look.

My Xena is either a traditional or appleheaded seal-point Siamese. She is a bit chubby and looks like Bucky Katt (see http://www.dilbert.com/comics/getfuzzy/index.html ) big grin big grin big grin Believe it or not, she is not very loud.

Hi Spencer - GOSH it's good to see you !!!! You're right about the types of Siamese. Now mine are the Ross P. Alley McBeal type - remember that??? big grin big grin They are really oriental skinny with the great big ears. How's those wonderful orangies of yours getting along. Is Ernie still a butt head big grin big grin

Mary,

I did not want to make one of my first posts to be that remark about wedgie Siamese!!! big grin Not to mention you invited me here. Last year I had remarked that wedgie meezers were as thin a Calista Flockhart with ears like Ross Perot in one of my bouts with the foot-in-mouth disease (not the cattle variety).

Ernie has mellowed a bit but is still strong willed, esp. his desire to wander outdoors. I found another stray that looks like a short-hair twin - Trevor (not Pam's). He is no wallflower either.

AWWW don't give it another thought Spence. At the time I thought your comment very humorous and definately right on target. I've never thought of them resembling those two individuals, but when you mentioned it I found it very funny. I think it's wonderful how you're caring for these strays. They need love too. I'm still stuck in the Condo, but I havent had any more flack about the kitties.

I have loads of pics of my Siamese, unfortunately I don't have a way of downloading them to send. See I don't have my own computer so I post here at work and I don't dare download pictures of cats here at work. Just take my word for it - they're beautiful wink wink

Hello.. just reading through and saw that you guys might want to see some photos of a Siamese. I recently got a Flame-Pt. (very rare) Siamese for my boyriends mother. She absolutely adores her now. Her name is Sugah and from getting to know her, she is a woooonderful kitty. I have only one photo that I know of but while uploading it I will check for more.... Hope you enjoy!! (The one I have is her sleeping with my baby Chihuahua)

There are three types of Siamese breeds. The Traditional or Appleheads are the bigger variety. Then the Classic style are the smaller more compact size, then the Modern or Wedge-head is the sleeker more slender and elongated version. I did a paper on them for my English 201 class and did a lot of research about them. If you want to know more just let me know and I will dig it up.

My Crazy is the Modern style and Rosie is Classic style Siameezers.

Xena is a traditional seal-point Siamese. She is not very loud or vocal. In fact, AJ is a tuxedo cat that is more vocal and more meezer-sounding. He has a hint of a Siamese build.

Krylann,

Is either one of your meezers vocal? Xena is not, but I knew of a cat that looked like Xena that was very vocal. She lived to be 14 yrs. It took at least three seconds for her to:

Yeooooooooooooooooooooooooooowl big grin

I guess it depends on what kind of mood their in, but Rosie will go around the house pacing and yowling and crying. We don't know why, we are right there and try to comfort her. We don't know if she is trying to find Crazy and get him to play or what.

Crazy is funny. He not only is vocal; he snorts. razz Especially when he is being tough or I haven't done what he wanted me to do. I tell him to quit snorting at me mister and I said no. His vocalizations range from chirrups when he is feeling the need to be comforted or curious to yowling because he can't find me or the kids or Rosie.

But, YES, my meezers are very vocal and talk all the time. I love it. That is one of the things I like about their breed.

Yes. The story of getting her is here

At times she her coat looked as light as Nala outdoors.

She blended with my grandmom's house! This could be a puzzle! big grin

Wow! Xena looks like our Coco! Coco was my kitty. I chose him and then he chose my sister. Funny though, I am totally allergic to Coco. He usse to be very very light with only the dark pints, but as he got older, his coat got darker. Is that normal?
