Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

Ok I have some REALLY cute pics! First I will post pics of my Spiney Mice, Pippin (Pip for short) and Squeek.

They are relatively new to the pet trade but make awesome pets! They don't small, don't bite and even allow a cuddle now and then. They remind me so much of my rats, without the stink. Razz The only downside to them is that they will eat anything plastic within an hour lol. They are chewing machines!

They are called spiney mice because they have bristles on their backs, which they get when they become teenagers. My spinies are just now getting their spines. I like to call Pip and Squeek my "brillo pads" hehe. Razz

They are very much rat like in nature, very clean and constantly grooming eachother. I believe both of mine are males, but it is really hard to sex spinies.

So Enjoy the pics! Big Grin
Here is Squeek

Wow my hands still smell like Fred, my regular mousie. What a stinky ****! Ok back to the spinies lol.
Here is Squeek again.

The other day they ate their water bottle, even though it had a guard so I figured I would get them a new toy to chew on, and they loved it! Smile

Here is Pip. By the way they are brothers from the same litter.

Trying to hijack my camera.

The two of them together.

Here are some pics I took of them when I first got them. You can see that they didn't quite have their spinies in yet. Wink

Pip!

The two of them checking me out.

Pip again.

Squeek. He looks so tiny here. They aren't babies anymore! Eek

Here is a pic of my two, both males, Majascar Hissing Cockroaches. Big Grin

Oh yes, you have to be VERY careful with the spinies tails and can never pick them up by the tail, because the tail will fall off, and it is very painful. Also if they lack protein in the diet they will eat the other spinie's tail. Eek

Here is Hermes in a funny pet pic I took. I thought this was halarious. Wheeeeeeee! hahaha

Another pic of Squeek.

Ok I uploaded the pics of Fred. I just took these about ten minutes ago and they came out really good! Big Grin

Fred was a present to me from my cat Cheetah, in other words, she caught him. Naughty girl!

Well I have had him since he was 4 weeks old, and he is now a year and a half. He is still a wild mouse though, but I tell you, he is as tame as they come. He is much better than any domestic mouse I have owned. He has never bit once, doesn't run when you go to pick him up etc. and as you can see, he loves the camera! He's a very special boy and I love him so much! Big Grin He's a little on the tubby side right now though. Razz

I read online that it is rare for a mouse to live past a year and a half, so I guess I am doing something right. I can't believe I have had him for so long already. He's truly a special little guy.

Looking for his favorite book, the "Three Mousketeers!"

All Aboard!!!

Can I tell you a funny story? See the beanie baby Collie dog in the first pic? This is really weird, but the dogs name is Cassie, which is also MY NAME!

When I was younger my brother used to make fun of my name because it sounded like Lassie, and always whistle and go. "Here Lassie", so that was sort of my nickname. Then last Christmas my stepdad sent me this beanit baby with the name Cassie, and it's a Lassie dog! I couldn't believe it lol. It was so funny! Razz

Rats are the tamest small pet you can get. The pictures I posted are not rats, they are of my house mouse, and my spiney mice. Wink

Rats are by far the sweetest most cuddliest, smartest rodents out there. I adore hamsters, but they are prone to biting and are just not as smart as rats.

I breed rats, in a variety of colors and coat types, and have around 20+. Big Grin

My rats are so laid back they just hang out on my shoulder all day, or lay in my hand just being lazy. I adore my ratties!

Here is a pic of one of the boys from my most recent litter, Hershey. See how laid back he is? He just relaxes in my hand. Dylan plays with the ratties all the time, he will be 2 this November...my son.

So whoever said rats are not tame, I just really do not know what they are talking about lol. They have been domesticated for ages!

Thanks! Big Grin Now that you mention it, she does remind me of a hairless dog lol! Razz Do you happen to know the name of the breed of larger hairless dog? Is it the Mexian Hairless, or maybe it was another name?......

Dear Rat Lover: Hi, this is Missy and Buffy is my older sister. I couldn't help but write to you about some of your pets. To tell you the truth, I don't think I'll ever let my mommy give me Frosted Flakes again because I'll always be on my guard that those giant lobster-like cockroaches will pop out of the box and I'll have a heart attack. They're bigger than me!! Why did you have to use Frosted Flakes which are my favorite??? Now, no matter what cereal my mommy buys, I'll always be on the lookout for "them." My mommy says they're cool. Good for her. Eek
