Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

Hello everyone,

I have been having a really hard time posting lately, lets see if this works. We have a new thoroughbred colt named Victor, we have had him and his mother None the Wiser for about 2 months. About a month ago Victor was diagnosed with a infection in his left front foot (in the coronet between the foot and the hoof). His vets do not know what caused it because he had been extremely healthy beforehand. He had to go to the Surgi-Care hospital in Brandon, FL and have the infection flushed out of his foot. He has been on antibiotics and is doing very well now (he is showing almost no lameness). But, he has to have followup x-rays sometime this week to guage his progress. Hopefully he will make a full recovery.

Boy, sounds horrible for the baby! those hoof injuries can be real mysteries. Just a lil tiny pebble can work itself up through the hoof & come out the top of the coronet band!(been there done that) also had a horse step on a small piece of welding rod( a couple of inches long) it had been dropped & left by a careless repairman. I saw the mare "pull up" the minute she stepped on it. It came right out. I soaked the foot & warm water w/ epson salt & tried to find out where it had stuck her. But, as usual with "Sole injuries" it had closed right over, when the piece of rod fell out. days later, the infection showed up(heat & lameness). cuz the moment the lil piece had stuck her, germs etc goes right in. It would have been better if it had stuck in there so we could have found the hole & opened it up immediately & inserted antibiotics into it. Hope all goes well with the lil one. Keep us informed!
