Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

Hi! And thankyou for the warm welcome! My name is Ashley (Aspen and Misty from PT) I am a very spoiled mom who has 10 kids.

Nova my Pitt Bull/ Lab mix. She is probly only about a year old, but we aren't sure as we adopted her from the SPCA, she was a stray.

Tyah (mini rex) and Julian (Holland Lop) my two bunnies. They don't get along at the moment but were working on it!

Peaches my Chameleon. I adopted her only a month ago from my sister.

Melony, Hope, Tundra, Brook my 4 rats. They are wonderful wonderful pets!

Misty my Barn cat, she belongs to my father though.

and

The newest addition is Breeze a 4 month old Black Lab. We just got her Tuesday. She is just a foster from Paws with a Cause though. She is goign to be a service dog when she becomes an adult. I just get the joy of raising her and teaching her the bascin comands. Sadly she will be taken from me and given back to Paws in a short 9 months.

I will post pictures of everyone in one second....

Thanx Anna! I knew if you were a member it had to be as wonderful as PT!!!

Maggie- Yes both of my bunnies, Julian and Tyah, are put on Harness when they go outside. They both also have name tags, like dog ID tags, that say there names, adress and phone number in case if they were to ever get lost. I don't really "walk" them, they walk me, lol. I pretty much walk behind them and keep up with them. Nova doesn't get along to well with anyone, lol. She gets along pretty well with Breeze and Misty and she wants to eat the rats and bunies. We go to extreme mesures to keep everyone safe and we always follow those rules.

Jamie- That is so neat LOL. What are some of you nick names for Nova? Some of ours are Novie and Nome.

Ash, I'm so happy to meet a new member with such a variety of pets. Smile They are adorable.

I've thought about getting involved with fostering animals that need a home, but somehow I think -- for me -- it would be too hard letting go. Breeze is gorgeous (she looks like my retriever, Lady). How often do you foster? Is there any special training? You are a very special person to do that type of work. But, I guess, you knowing that she's going to be a service dog in the long-run makes it bearable since it must be so hard to let go. I would love to hear more about that.

First time foster for me. We get to keep the dogs till they are 12 to 15 months old. No there is no special training as you HAVE to go through Puppy schoolm bassic traing and advance training. I just have to teach her the basic comands though, like Sit, stay roll over things like that.

I've been waiting 2 years for this experince. I begged and begged and finally we deced to go ahead and do it. It took us 4 months to go through the program and there papers. Someone came, checked out our house and gave us the Ok and said they would get back to us when they had a puppy for us. Thats how she came to live with us.

About not being able to give her back, can you imagine recieving a mischeviouse puppy who chews on everything slobbers on any one and is shy and then turn her into a confident, well trained, outgoing dog? It's going to amazing and although handing her back to paws will be diffcult my reward will come on graduation day when I get to go to Michgan and see Breeze again and get to meet her forever partner. I can't even imagine the joy that the people who recieve these dogs must feel. I am just gratful I get to be a part in it. And I am so exited to be able to give someone there freedom again in the form of the best joy on earth, a puppy.

KissSmile I know an individual who has a seeing eye dog and until that dog came into his life he hardly had independence. He is a different fellow with his companion. I can imagine the joy he felt when he was given the guide dog. His dog is a labrador.

Ash, you are a special person to do this and you will be blessed many times in life for such a good deed. KissSmile

Do you get to take photographs at the graduation? If you do, I would love to see them.
