Hi, we're so glad you're visiting.  Welcome to the CFP Pet Community.

The CFP Forum is officially "inactive" -- I am exhausted and just cannot keep up with it.  All our wonderful moderators and buddies who wholeheartedly participated with me in this forum also have busy lives and -- one could say -- we all got burned out talking about our fur-kids for years. It got to be pretty addicting, but life and reality has now taken over. I love you guys -- enjoy reading the posts OR if you want to register and say hello, please do not expect an immediate response or a lot of replies. God bless and please take care of your fur-kids.

Last night (6/8/05) between 9 & 10 pm, a fire started in a mobile home located in Camp Swift acres. Christine Fudge was in the mobile home and died in the fire. We don't know any other details. What we do know is that:

The Fudge's have 2 dogs and 2 puppies: Itibit, a 5-6 year old female Lab mix and Yoohoo, a 3-4 year old female Lab mix. The puppies are male, 3 months old, and their names are Doobie and Booger Bear. These 2 puppies were bottle fed by the woman that died in the fire from the time they were 2 weeks old. When Mr. Fudge arrived at the remnants of his home, he found the two older dogs but not the puppies. He assumed that the puppies had died in the fire with his wife. He had nowhere to keep the 2 dogs.

Mr. Fudge and his mother contacted a local shelter, told the shelter personnel about the fire and asked for help. Mr. Fudge was told that the shelter would hold the 2 dogs for 3 days, that there would be a charge for holding them and that they could not hold the dogs past 3 days and if the dogs were still there they would be put down. The Elgin Humane Society Adoption Center was then contacted and immediately made space for the 2 dogs. Elgin Humane Society Volunteers went to the burned out mobile home to post fliers to help locate the puppies, and were able to locate the 2 puppies in the woods behind the property. The puppies were badly burned, had smoke inhalation, one has a broken foot, and they were in shock. The puppies are currently being treated at Pflugerville Animal Hospital. The Elgin Humane Society has set up a fund in case people want to donate towards the medical bills for these two puppies or if they would like to donate money towards Mr. Fudge. Please click below to donate through a secure server, PayPal. Thank you!!!

what a terrible thing to happen. I hope the guy gets another home soon for him and his dogs. I can't imagine anything more terrible than losing a spouse and then not even being able to be with your furkids for comfort. and those poor pups I feel really bad for them too. crying

This is sad. I know the area well as we lived in Austin for 16 years, use to camp and fish at a private lake in Elgin and my ex-sister-in-law lives in Pflugerville which is just out of Austin. I will mail a donation.
