Yes they did have them on Fear Factor a week or so ago, because RatLover had posted them climbing on a cereal box and I reconized them right away when I saw them on Fear Factor.

i think ur pets are kewl my friend now wants 2 go check out a rat at the pet shop. hey do u take them 2 a vet also? do they need a checkup ~n~ stuff like dogs? do vets see rats as patients? please let me know cuz my friend wants 2 read what u type. she luvs marshmellow.

If your friend is interested in rats please have her research them a LOT before aquiring a rat as a pet. They are a lot of work, and their vet bills can be horrendous! They need daily socialization for at least an hour and must be kept in same sex pairs or they will get bored and lonely.

I would advise her/him to find a local breeder nearby. Pet shops usually carry rats that are bred by feeder rats and can be very unhealthy, unsocial and carry parasites as well as viruses/bacteria.

Breeder rats are bred for health and temperament and are very social as they are handled from a young age. If she cannot find a breeder try to locate a rescue nearby. Rescue rats can have many problems and are not for everyone, but they are a lot more social than petshop rats as they have been handled most of the time.

Rats are prone to cancer, tumours, abscesses, respiratory problems etc. and the vet bills can add up fast. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on my rats already. They also have very specific feeding guidelines as well as husbandry needs. So yes they do need checkups, at least once a year, and recommended when you first bring them home.
